This was a tough first match back after the Christmas break, against top of the table Newent. Cheltenham fought hard displaying excellent team work and were unlucky to lose 4-2. With a strong squad, Cheltenham held Newent at 1-1 for a period in the first half. However the opposition's well-hit short corners and quick breaks meant Cheltenham were 3-1 down at half time. The score difference would have been a lot greater if it were not for some great tackling from the Cheltenham defence keeping the ball out of the D. Dowsett and Centamore made some fantastic runs and interceptions, and were unlucky not to score. Jemma Jones gave Cheltenham their first goal, with a great strike, and Jo Taylor provided the second, with a skilful reverse stick flick at goal. Sadly another goal from the opposition ended the match 4-2.
