Ladies 1s -vs- Lansdown
10 October 2009
2 - 3
After a disappointing start to the season, Cheltenham first team were determined to pull together and give local rivals Lansdown a good game. From the opening whistle Cheltenham proved there recent poor play was behind them with a convincing initial performance, attacking the ball and giving the Lansdown team a run for their money. After strong play and a well worked team move, Cheltenham were awarded their first short corner, which saw Laura Jacques smash the ball into the goal, leaving the Lansdown defence wanting. Further consistent play saw Cheltenham settle into the first half and looked like they had the game in their reach. The second half proved more difficult, with the Lansdown forwards pressing harder for the ball, who were rewarded with a goal early on. The game became more intense as both teams attacked, however the Cheltenham defence and keeper Lara Harvey proved unbreakable, with Cheltenham being first to be rewarded after strong competitive play, rallying the supporters along the sideline. However after some interesting umpiring decisions, Lansdown equalised and in the last play of the game, unfortunately, they clinched the winning goal from a short corner. Although it was a loss, a different Cheltenham team were on display and this proves positive for the forthcoming games.

10 October 2009
3 - 2

In the second half Cheltenham took control and worked some very good short corners to slot home a second through Sophie Jowett. Devizes then came back into the game after a short spell of pressure, and an equaliser was scored to make it 2-2. Cheltenham re-established control of the second half and their third goal was added by a tip in from Fran Centamore on the right post during another well worked short corner routine. The final score resulted in a third consecutive win for Cheltenham Ladies 2nd XI.
