Women's 1s -vs- Redland

05 December 2009

Cheltenham 2 - Redland 2

Although Cheltenham started the game well, looking dangerous on the ball, they went a goal down when Redland converted a messy short corner. Cheltenham replied immediately with a well worked training ground short corner goal finished in style by Rachel Owen for her first goal of the season. Cheltenham applied further pressure and Fiona Maffey scored their 2nd goal from another well executed short corner routine. After the break, Cheltenham, still looking dominate on the ball were unable to put away their chances to increase on their lead and Redland got a lucky break a their centre forward took her chance and made the final score 2-2. Debutee, Nicola Tansey was player of the match creating some attacking play in the midfield supported by Lorna Bowman and Gemma Stevens. Cheltenham are looking forward to competing in the indoor tournament in Bath this Saturday where they hope to better their success of last year where they finished runners up in the indoor trophy.
