SOMERSET GRYPHONS 1 CHELTENHAM 2s 2
CHELTENHAM 2s maintained their 100 per cent winning start to the season after goals from Nick Hume and Timmy Williams-Ellis.
The game started well and Somerset pushed hard from the start trying to dominate the game.
The home side relied on aerials and long-ball tactics to try to pin Cheltenham back.
Cheltenham soon started to play the style of hockey they wanted, passing the ball well and first-team coach Lee Robson would have been shocked by the number of first-time passes successfully made.
Cheltenham soon got on top and started to pressure the Somerset defence.
The first goal soon came when Hume latched on to a first-time ball by Williams-Ellis and fired a reverse stick shot high into the roof of the net.
The second goal came midway in the second half after a super first-time strike from Williams-Ellis.
With nothing to lose, Somerset finished strongly and pulled a goal back.

CHELTENHAM LADIES 1s extended their winning start to the season with a hard-fought success.
Cheltenham found themselves a goal down at half-time against the run of play. But they started the second half strongly and their determination was rewarded with a flowing team move finished off by Nat Williams.
Cheltenham pushed hard for the win and were rewarded with a confidently-taken goal by leading scorer Sophie Whitaker.
