DELIGHT AS CLUB RECEIVES NEW FUNDING BOOST
Cheltenham Hockey Club has been awarded funding by Government-funded grassroots sport organisation Sportsmatch.Sportsmatch makes awards to organisations running projects that are aimed at increasing participation in sports at community level.
Once an organisation has found sponsorship for a project, it can apply to Sportsmatch with a request to match the funding.
CHC received confirmation that SMP would continue to be its lead sponsor in July 2007.
The club then approached Sportsmatch with a proposal to invest the funds in youth development, spend on player and goalkeeping coaching staff, and fund equipment and the organisation of additional workshops and master classes.
Club president, Sue Bayley, said: "We are absolutely delighted Sportsmatch has agreed to match the funding donated by SMP.
"The club continues to go from strength to strength and this year we are delighted to be welcoming more new members than ever.
"It is vital that CHC continues to invest in its infrastructure so that it can follow through on plans for improvement and growth over the coming seasons.
"The Sportsmatch funding will be of great benefit to the club."
The club fields eight teams a week, with the men's and women's first teams both playing in the top flight West of England league.
