CHELTENHAM A 3 NORTH BRISTOL 1
CHELTENHAM triumphed in this top-of-the-table clash after their young forward line ran riot.
Cheltenham put pressure on the North Bristol back line from the start, playing with pace and skill.
The first goal came from good work from Cullimore and Williams-Ellis that culminated in Hume scoring from close range.
The midfield duo of Whitfield and Giles controlled the game, cancelling out North Bristol's rare moves forward. Hume doubled the lead following a melee in the D, again scoring from close range.
Cheltenham conceded a scrappy goal with 10 minutes to go before Murtagh killed the game off with a fine strike from the top of the D.
Cheltenham's back three of Edwards, Horne and Fuller remained solid throughout, ably supported by Purnell in goal.

WINCHESTER arrived for this England Hockey Association Second XI Trophy third-round tie looking for revenge after Cheltenham beat them at the same stage last year.
Winchester started the stronger, converting two penalty corners before Hume got a goal back.
Another penalty corner extended the visitors' lead before Troughton got one back with a deflected goal from an excellent ball into the box by Moore.
As Cheltenham pushed for an equaliser, Winchester capitalised twice on the space provided them.

CHELTENHAM kept a clean sheet for the first time this season as they gained a deserved win.
Cheltenham started well, creating chances straight away, and went ahead through Kim Cook from a penalty corner conversion.
Cheltenham remained strong after half-time and doubled their lead when Sophie Whittaker calmly placed the ball in the goal as a result of well executed play down the right.
Cheltenham's attacking nature was rewarded when Michelle Walker chipped the ball past the goalkeeper.

CIRENCESTER started the stronger of the two teams and scored through Heather Muir after five minutes.
As the first half progressed the away side settled into their stride and pulled a goal back from a well taken short corner, slammed into the net by Laura Loving.
Cirencester then took the lead through Julie Finn and could almost have had a third from a breakaway, but Lara Harvey in the Cheltenham goal came off her line to make an excellent save.
The game continued with end-to-end action before Cheltenham came back into the game from a rebound goal scored by captain Karen Keating.
