Men’s Section

Cheltenham Hockey Club’s Men’s section offers hockey at all levels – from competitive to social – to players of all standards and abilities. CHC enters five teams into the West of England and South Wales hockey leagues, playing our home games at Balcarras School, Cheltenham. The club also enters England Hockey’s Men’s Indoor and Outdoor annual cup competitions. The CHC 1st XI is the only side in Gloucestershire and its immediate surroundings to play in EHL Men’s Conference West against the best sides in the South and West of the country. The other four Men’s sides all play in the Go Crea8 League. The Men’s 2nd XI now play in the Premiership. In addition the Men’s 3rd XI play in De Cymru & The Marches 1 and the Men’s 4’s in The Marches 1 . Last but by no means least; we have the Men’s 5th team, who cater for our youngsters, veterans and anybody wanting to enjoy a more casual game of hockey, in The Marches 2. All teams are supported and mentored by a team of experienced and qualified coaches. The 1st and 2nd XI train twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday. The remaining 3 sides train solely on a Thursday. Off the pitch, there is a thriving social calendar for both the men’s and ladies sections of the club to enjoy. Activities throughout the season include regular nights out after games to sample the local nightlife and curry houses, quiz nights at the club house, fancy dress evenings, and the annual dinner and dance.
