With 5 men's teams and 3 women's teams, Cheltenham Hockey Club (CHC) is a dynamic and friendly club, with fantastic playing and social facilities. The men's and women's 1st XI play in West Prem 1 and at the end of the 2007 season, 3 of the men's teams were promoted into higher divisions.
CHC offers a wide variety of hockey - from outdoor to indoor, vets to summer league. CHC welcomes new players at all standards. If you would like to join us, come along to training or get in touch.
Summer Training
Summer training has started at 8:00pm - 9:30pm every Tuesday at Oxstalls for both men and women. Don't forget to bring your sticks and plenty of water!
Brian Le Brun
The players at Cheltenham hockey club were very saddened to learn about the sudden death of Brian Le Brun, on Sunday 20th July. Brian umpired for Cheltenham on many occasions and was well thought of by all of the players. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
Newsflash
Congratulations to CHC Ladies (with a few guests appearances) played at the annual Gloucester 6s tournament on Sunday 22nd July. The team won two rounds of pooled games and met Bretforton in the final. The girls then brought home the beer (literally) by winning 3-0. Players included: Lorna Bowman, Vanessa Burton, Corrie Farrell, Georgina Jefferies, Fiona Maffey, Daisy Noble, Harriet Pearce and Michelle Walker.
Who said chivalry was dead
This week, the 'modern man' award goes to Jonny Bryan, who didn't hesitate in sending a member of the fairer sex to collect the ball that he erroneously (but predictably) hoofed over the fence. The fact that a) this was her first training with CHC and b) she was the only female player at training, did not deter the Men's 1st XI captain from delegating so magnificently.
